a year agoMy breast has had deep red discoloration since surgery ( lumpectomy and sentinel node retrieval)6 weeks ago. I have developed a good sized Seroma. The breast discoloration is not felt to be an infection (no change after 2 courses of different antibiotics) Surgeon feels it is “congestion in the breast due to lymphedema and poor venous function.” Radiation still on hold. Going to see what PT can do. Anyone else out there had this?

Breast discoloration and seromas can be concerning complications that some patients do experience after lumpectomy and sentinel node procedures. It sounds like working with physical therapy for the lymphatic issues could be a helpful step forward, and hopefully other community members who have faced similar post-surgical challenges will share their experiences with you.
