6 months agoI am having a double mastectomy with the diep flap surgery on 7/1. They gave me an Amazon list of stuff that i “needed” which cost way over $350. One being the Marena LGS Stage 1 Recovery High-Waist Girdle, Short Length Post-Surgical Girdle that’s $140.Could tight compression leggings be worn? The vitamins called Heal Fast? Bone Broth? I found a less expensive brand. And soooo much more!!! And i see they prescribe Tylenol, Ibuprofen and gabapentin for home pain meds? Really?!!! HELP!!

Finding affordable alternatives for recovery supplies is a common concern, and it's completely understandable to want to manage costs during this challenging time. Many community members have found success with less expensive options like compression leggings instead of specialized garments, though it's worth checking with the surgical team about specific compression requirements for optimal healing. Consider reaching out to other members who've had similar procedures - they often have great suggestions for budget-friendly alternatives that worked well for their recovery and may even have gently used items to share.

6 months agoI had mastectomy last month, I have a cotton sports bra and Amazon boobs for around $20, they will try to milk us with a lot of crap! What I have is great, pop 'em in and go! 🤗

5 months agoI’m currently recovering from a double mastectomy and I am wearing cotton bras with the hooks for my drains which the hospital actually provided to me. The only thing I would suggest is the wedge for behind you so that you can sleep in a somewhat upright position and a body pillow that wraps around you is useful for your arms, but you can just use regular pillows on each side as well honestly; that’s all you really need in my opinion. I know Amazon has a wedge for a fairly reasonable price.

5 months agoDonna, If they gave you a list to go by, compare the items and prices online. I'm sure you will find many things for less money. I was given the bras from the hospital. I've been lucky, and so far, they have given me 4 of them. I bought shirts to carry the drains and one specific pillow to rest my arms. Well, that pillow itself, I've used once and don't love it. Regular pillows are good.
