I am waiting for a date for a mastectomy and breast reconstruction. My anxiety is so bad. I have read about both and I feel like it has just made my anxiety worse.

Feeling anxious while waiting for surgery is completely natural, and many people find that researching can sometimes increase worry rather than provide comfort. Consider speaking with your surgical team about your specific concerns, as they can provide personalized information and may be able to connect you with resources like counseling or support groups specifically for people preparing for these procedures.

I just had a double mastectomy on the 27th nothing really prepared me, until ur head, heart and support are right, it is terrifying but so much easier than your head makes it out to be. I am not going to lie it is life changing, I thought my reconstruction would be in 6 weeks and now it looks like 6 months. And the tissue expanders are not fun ❀️ but honestly what is our alternative? You got this I promise! It sucks, it’s scary, it’s unfair, but u got this πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

I had my double mastectomy this week, and my anxiety was very high beforehand. The fear of the unknown of what I was going to look like afterward, along with hearing from a nurse, one of the doctors was new, which turned out to be not true. Be comfortable with your decision and know that it is the best thing for you. We got this.

Hello all, I had my bilateral mastectomy in December of 2021. anxiety is to be expected because I sure had lots and not really knowing the unknown. I haven't completed my reconstruct due to some other unforseen issues that intervened so it had to be postponed. Maybe Next year I'll be able to move forward. The worst part for me was after the surgery and coming home with the drain tubes (never being able to get comfortable)and being soreI and having to sleep in a recliner for weeks...not the most comfortable position 😫for that long of a period. But I couldn't have had a better nurse (my husband) to take care of me with so much patience and care. I myself am definitely on a journey that is not over! So understanding your anxiety and fears I definitely get it. You got this! Sending blessings, all the prayers and hugsπŸ™πŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ«‚πŸ€— your way.
