Since my cancer is hormone receptor-negative and HER2-negative, they explained that chemo could help reduce the risk of cancer returning by targeting fast-growing cells throughout my body. Do I really need chemo for stage 1B TNBC?

I was diagnosed with TNBC on May 21st. Had a lumpectomy on June 9th. An 8mm tumor was removed with clean margins & the 4 lymph nodes removed were negative for cancer. TNBC: stage 1b. I know I will need/get 4 weeks of radiation therapy. My medical oncologist is recommending a 2 drug, 4 rounds of chemo once every 3 weeks before the radiation therapy. Since my tumor was so small & nodes were negative, I am questioning if I really need the chemotherapy. Can anyone relate to this scenario? Any comments? Suggestions? Thank you. Carol M

How do you cope with chemo fatigue during long treatment plans?

Hi everyone! I just did my 9th (of 12) round of taxol for triple negative invasive ductile carcinoma. I’m stage 1b. Once all 12 rounds of taxol are complete, we go to 4 rounds of AC (1 every 3 weeks). I’m also doing Keytruda every 3 weeks and those infusion will continue for a year. I’ll get a lumpectomy and then 12 rounds of radiation. It’s a long fight. The nurses keep reminding me, “it’s a marathon.” Is anyone else feeling blah? I’m trying to take it one day at a time, I have an incredible tribe of friends and community who are rallying around me and my family, which is helping me get through it. I hope you’re all finding your groove…this is just a blip in our story. Sending you all love.

How are other triple negative breast cancer survivors doing 10 years later?

Hi ladies I had triple negative stage two I did the chemo. I called it red devil and then I did the chemo once a week for 12 weeks then I waited a month and I had my surgery. I did bilateral mastectomy with no reconstructive surgery. I didn’t have to do radiation I wasn’t put on any pills I am now in my 10th year remission and I’m doing good. Sometimes my hand do tingle every once in a while my chest tightens up, but I don’t have any other problems. I am doing very well.
