Has anyone with TNBC skipped chemo due to age after prior treatment?

I have TNBC but have decided not to do chemotherapy because of my age (78 next month) I had breast cancer stage 3, 27 years ago. I received chemo, radiation, and stem cell transplant. I was cancer free for over 26 years. I would like to know if anyone has had this experience, and any information you could share.

I'm currently on a chemotherapy regimen that includes cyclophosphamide, carboplatin, and docetaxel. My care team has also prescribed several supportive medications to help manage side effects - pegfilgrastim to support my white blood cell count, and bone-strengthening medications including denosumab, pamidronate, and zoledronic acid to protect my bones during treatment. I'm learning about the different types of ongoing care during my breast cancer journey. My medical team explained that there are two main parts that work together - monitoring to watch for any signs of cancer returning and track overall health, and supportive care to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life throughout treatment and recovery. Chemo-induced tinnitus from Carboplatin - will it go away?

I’ve completed 10 of the 12 doses of Paclitaxel and Carboplatin with Keytruda for 2b TNBC. I have ear ringing (tinnitus) in one ear. The ENT injected my inner ear with 5 rounds of steroids and there has been marginal improvement. Also, my oncologist pulled the Carbo from the last infusion as all thought this might be the culprit. I sure hope this isn’t permanent. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Should I reconsider mastectomy if chemo shrunk my tumors?

I do not want a mastectomy. We did all the chemo and immunotherapy treatments before surgery and still don’t have that surgery for lumpectomy scheduled. I was diagnosed in mid February and first chemo 3/12. I never understood having surgery first if the chemo is meant to shrink tumors which mine has done. You have to hunt for either of them and both were visible. What purpose is there in doing mastectomy first ? And now my tumors are practically gone I see no need now either. I don’t want to go through reconstruction either. That is just not for me.

What home remedies help with mucositis pain besides salt water?

Has anyone had mucositis and can recommend good home treatments. There is a magic mouthwash that has medication and lidocaine. The mouthwash is a compound so they have to order all the ingredients to make it and it's been taking longer to get the mouthwash. Therefore I'm using warm salt water to gargle and milk of magnesia I apply with a q-tip to sooth the tongue, but it's not always a remedy for the pain. I need more options 😩.

I was just diagnosed with Triple Negative Metaplastic breast cancer. I am stage 1-2A . My care team wants to start me on Keynote 522. I’m scared , has anyone else had the same diagnosis!
