This is such a difficult decision to face, and it's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed with surgery approaching so quickly. Many people in this community have wrestled with similar choices about the extent of surgery, and there's no single right answer that works for everyone. The decision often depends on many personal factors that only you and your medical team can fully evaluate together. Consider reaching out to other community members who may share their experiences and thought processes - their perspectives might help you feel more confident about whatever choice feels right for your situation.

Hi Stage 2a TNBC, woman in 30s. 2.5cm lump on right breast. I just completed my chemotherapy today and will have double mastectomy with die-flap reconstruction on Jan 5, 2026. BRCA 2 positive as well. Just giving you an idea for similar circumstance. It is indeed a hard decision, my positive genes made me go to DMX route. I opted out from getting implants as I did not want to deal with additional surgeries in the future to replace implants.

Hi I had the bilateral mastectomy done nine years ago and I didn’t have reconstructive surgery. I also have a huge butterfly on my chest sometime I wear my prosthetic boobs and sometime I don’t I am comfortable either way and I feel that you will be comfortable with whatever you decide to do. I was stage 2 , l did chemo before my surgery and didn’t have to do radiation or chemo after my surgery
