2 years agoI’m newly diagnosed with TNBC, I just saw my oncologist and during my appointment she told me that I’m triple negative, but i asked her about my PR on the tumor which was 5%, she said that any estrogen/ PR less than 10% she doesn’t have to count, and I notice she wrote in her notes “patient has a near negative breast cancer”, has anyone had this happen?
Accepted Answer
The terminology around "near negative" breast cancer can be confusing when hormone receptor levels fall in that borderline range between 1-10%. Many patients in this community have encountered similar situations where their pathology reports show low percentages that still get classified as triple negative for treatment purposes. Your oncologist's approach of not counting PR levels under 10% aligns with standard medical guidelines, and it's completely understandable to want clarity on what this means for your specific diagnosis and treatment plan.

6 months agoMine was 2% and my oncologist said that it's so low that they count it as negative and treat as triple negative.
