2 months agoAfter surviving breast cancer (chemo, lumpectomy, radiation, meds, worked through all this)2016 was ok kind of. At 71 yrs young 😄, in 2024 got a period again! PCP did a test, referred to gyn, had a not so good feeling of results. Gyn made a referral to oncology even before giving me the result, loved it! Gyn/oncologist agreed with me on total hysterectomy. Been fine since, but always researching on information & probabilities of future ones. Trying to enjoy everyday my family specially my great-gkids.😄

2 months agoRecovery experiences after hysterectomy can vary greatly from person to person, and many factors like overall health, surgical approach, and individual healing process can influence what to expect. It sounds like having a strong support system with family and great-grandchildren will be wonderful during recovery - staying connected with loved ones and this supportive community can make a real difference in the healing journey.

a month agoI had a total hysterectomy last March. The surgery was robotic so all I had were about 5 slits above my pelvic area. It was a day surgery so was home in time for supper (Not that I wanted to eat.). Recovery was not horrible. I was very sore and slow to move. I, too, had vaginal bleeding at the age of 72. I knew this was not a good thing and called for a Dr’s appointment immediately. Glad I did. I had radiotherapy and now go in for checkups every 3 months.
