How sick will chemo and immunotherapy make me?

Hi, I was diagnosed with stage 2 endometrial cancer in February of 2025. I was diagnosed through a D & C. I had surgery on April 14 and finished 25 rounds of radiation the first week of August 2025. I started experiencing terrible abdominal pain in July of this year that was mostly ignored by by primary dr. I had a CT scan on sept 25th and I found out the cancer was back and had spread. There is now a mass on the vaginal cuff and 3 additional tumors in the peritoneal cavity. I start chemo and immunotherapy on 0ct 28th. Im a widow and live alone. Im absolutely terrified. How sick will I get? Will I be able to take care of myself and keep up my house? Im already extremely fatigued. The idea of doing this alone a second time just feels insurmountable.

The side effects from chemo and immunotherapy can vary greatly from person to person, with some people experiencing manageable symptoms while others may feel more unwell - your medical team can provide specific guidance about what to expect with your particular treatment plan and help you prepare for managing daily activities. This community understands how overwhelming it feels to face treatment, and many members have found strength in connecting with others who truly understand this journey.

I went through 6 rounds of chemo and immunotherapy this year. I had some side effects but manageable. Do you have a friend to take you to your infusions? The first week after was the one I didn't do much but sit around and nap. Then it got better. Granted I don't live alone and my husband took over taking care of the house. Don't be afraid to ask for help from family and friends. My mantra oneday at a time

Also the chemo and immunotherapy worked. It burned out my tumors and reduced what metastasized on my vulva. I am continuing the immunotherapy, Keytruda for the next year which hopefully will keep me in remission so know that while the treatment is scary the end results give us more time and for that I am so grateful.

I dont really have anyone anymore except my niece. In the last 5 years, ive lost my husband, both parents, my favorite aunt, my sister in law and all 3 of my pet rabbits. Its been rough but somehow ive made my way thru. My niece works a lot but she tries to make time for me as often as she can. And she is going to be taking me to my treatments. Im mostly worried I'll get too sick to cook and take care of the house because I had a bad reaction to radiation the first time. I got so so sick. So, im stressing over how chemo & immunotherapy will affect me this time around. Im so happy to hear the treatments helped you. I appreciate you responding. Ive been feeling pretty isolated and alone.

May I suggest you cook and freeze meals while you feel good so you only have to heat them up during the down times. Also it's important to eat even when you don't want to so try lots of little meals and snacks. Don't be afraid to call your care team when you have questions. They really help. Sending prayers your way that your journey goes as well as mine.
