2 months agoHi. I was diagnosed August 19th with Basaloid Squamous Cell Carcinoma. My Radiation treatment starts Oct 9th. Doc states itsca rare & aggressive cancer. I was hesitant about the radical treatment because I'm a naturalist. Clean eating. I'm numb! It has silence me, don't know what to expect. Doc states Chemotherapy will also be used, although that appointment to discuss is Oct 2. Has anyone work through this process? If so how many weeks could you go without feeling fatigue?
Accepted Answer
Treatment timelines and side effects can vary significantly from person to person, but fatigue typically begins to develop gradually over the first few weeks of combined treatment. Many community members find it helpful to connect with others who have navigated similar treatment paths, and sharing experiences about managing energy levels and expectations can provide valuable support during this challenging time.

2 months agoI was diagnosed in March this year. Started 6 weeks of radiation Monday-Friday and chemo pills to take at the same time. Then two chemo IV treatments. I did not have the chemo that made me loose my hair. There are 200 different kinds of chemo. Some are worse than others. I was treated for my anal cancer at Fred Hutchison in Seattle. They are one of 4 in the US who specialize in this type of rare cancer. I just had my post three month screening and exams after my last treatment. And the tumor is completely gone! They got it! It was one of the most frightening things to go through but you are stronger than you think. One day at a time. And it can save your life. I am still tired often. And if i overdo something, i am really exhausted and need to stay in bed and get rest. But, everyday I am getting better. I gave been down this road. Try to go to a center that knows what to do to get rid of this cancer.

My FMLA starts. My job will work with me. I heard about the fatigue & all the different side effects. I hope & pray you continue to be cancer free, and I can soon be too.

2 months agoYou are in my thoughts and prayers. The radiation fatigue is real but seemed to start mid treatment, not right away.

a month agoI did the same thing. I prayed every time. You are in good hands. They know what they are doing. The burns will heal. Use the creams they prescribe. And the cooling gels. You will get through this and be on the other side. You are strong and resilient. God is by your side. Glad you are almost over the finish line with treatment. This is a journey.... but, gets better with time.
