What does stage 4 B-cell lymphoma mean if I have no symptoms?

Hi everyone, my name is Tina. I was diagnosed with b-cell lymphoma, aboutt a month ago. My PET scan was clear but I have a parotid nodule and my bone marrow biopsy showed it was in the bone. They say this makes me a stage 4 but so far I have no symptoms. I am in "wait and watch" mode right now, which is very stressful.

Stage 4 B-cell lymphoma with no symptoms often means the cancer has spread to multiple areas but isn't causing noticeable problems yet, which is why "watch and wait" can be an appropriate approach that many patients experience. The stress of monitoring without immediate treatment is completely understandable, and connecting with others in this community who may have similar experiences can provide valuable support during this challenging time.

I completely agree - stage 4 with no symptoms is actually pretty common with B-cell lymphoma, and while the watch and wait period is nerve-wracking, you might also ask your care team about what specific signs to look out for so you feel more in control during this waiting time.

I have NHL Marginal Zone Lymphoma. It is stage 4. It was found in many areas, including bone marrow. I was on watch and wait for awhile and then was able to start treatment with immunotherapy. I understand this trepidation because I didn’t and still don’t have any symptoms. It is unnerving, because a lot of cancer patients don’t do the watch and wait. Maybe it’s just blood cancers. Reach out anytime! Nice to hear there are others like us!

I was fortunate; diagnosed with DLBCL June of 2024. Hospitalised for 22 days; had chemo every three weeks … chemo was in the hospital for six days then out two weeks x 6 rounds. It was was a rough 6 months, but here I am a year and a half later only a few side-effects from the chemo and they are improving. R-EPOCH was my chemo.

Hello Tina and Group, I was diagnosed August 4, 2023 with B-cell Marginal Cell Lymphoma. It is also stage 4. I did the watch and wait for almost a year when I started feeling really run down. Bloodwork showed it to continue to grow. I did 4 weeks of Rituximab immunotherapy. There has been no sign of b-cell lymphoma since 3 months after treatment. Back to the watch and wait. They say to look for night sweats, low energy, or abnormal pain. As we get older, we all have pain. lol!!!! I’m not one to wait and watch. No patients at all, my wife says. A buddy of mine kept telling me to look forward not backward. Nothing you can do about the past including the diagnosis. You can’t worry about the things you can’t control. I know that’s easier said than done. I can do it, anyone can! Stay positive and always looking forward.
