Will incontinence after second TURBT surgery go away?

I just had my 2nd TURBT this week. Confirmed not muscle invasive. I do have high grade aggressive cancer. Last one was 7 weeks ago. 2 more tumors removed, scar tissue, and was able to get a piece of the muscle this time. Also instilled that chemo drug mytomycin. I go for CT scans a wk from Monday. Will start BCG in December after my bladder heals. This is a scary process. Every step of the way is an unknown. This Turbt has left me with some incontinence issues. All I do is urinate. It's only been three days. Hopefully it subsides.

Incontinence after TURBT is a common concern that many patients experience, and the good news is that it typically improves as the bladder heals over the coming days and weeks. The bladder tissue needs time to recover from the procedure, and frequent urination often decreases as inflammation subsides and normal bladder function returns. Many community members have shared similar experiences and found that staying patient during the healing process helps, so connecting with others here who understand this journey can provide valuable support and reassurance.

I also had incontinence issues after TURBT and it does subside with time but now I have started BCG therapy and have had two treatments out of a scheduled six but now I am urinating literally every 15 minutes. It is so bad I don’t know if I can complete my treatments. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had high grade aggressive cancer as well. I had 4 TURBT's. The last one created a lot of bleeding. It was determined that the cells were squamous. Six weeks ago I had a cystectomy. It was a long surgery but got all the cancer. No chemo or BCG treatments. I do have a stoma but it's not bad at all. I am starting to feel stronger and I am close to back to normal. I had an awesome surgeon and the surgery was robotic. Less healing time.

They also wanted me to have the surgery but I refused because I am 77 years old and didn’t know I would handle the long surgery. Also I had reservations about dealing with the ostomy bag. Do you have any problems with it?

I’m one of the few patients who wishes I had bladder removed sooner. We tried BCG for my stage-1 highly aggressive CIS tumor, because that tumor type typically responds well to BCG. But in the time we spent doing treatments, my cancer advanced to muscle invasive. And in the time it took to do RC w/neo bladder, my cancer advanced to metastatic. This all happened 10 years ago. I’m obviously still alive, thanks in part to pembro (Keytruda). I’d ask if there’s anything known about molecular makeup of your tumor that gives them confidence it’ll respond to BCG. I’d also ask if you’re a candidate for pembro.
