That waiting period between diagnosis and the first oncologist appointment can feel overwhelming, and it's completely natural to have many thoughts and questions during this time. The team at OHSU has experience helping patients navigate their bladder cancer journey, and that upcoming appointment will be an important step in getting the information and care plan that's right for your situation. Many community members find it helpful to write down questions beforehand so they can make the most of their time with the oncologist.

5 months agoFor your BCG treatments you might try no liquids for 4 - 6 hours before the appointment. This helps to hold the BCG in longer. After the treatment it would be good, if you can, to flip 15 minutes on each side, and on your stomach and back for about an hour or more. This helps to distribute the BCG. About two hours after the treatment start drinking clear watery liquids - about 60 - 80 ounces total. This helps to flush your bladder. This has helped me and other people. Hope it helps you!
