What support is available while waiting for biopsy results?

What is available in the interim? Between biopsy and knowing what you have and what stage it is? Before they set you up with an oncologist if you have questions about symptoms? My husband is also experiencing anxiety because they told him it was going to be 3-5 days and this is day 6. I feel so helpless. I even had him call the mental health line today and they told him Monday-Friday. Unless he wanted to call the suicidal phone number. It’s not like that, but mental anguish can be very bad. BTW… it is my husband who probably has cancer in his stomach. Not even sure I’m in the right group.

The waiting period for biopsy results can be incredibly stressful, and many cancer centers offer patient navigation services or support lines specifically for questions during this uncertain time - it might be worth calling the hospital or clinic directly to ask about available resources. While this community focuses on bladder cancer, the emotional support and understanding here can still be valuable, and many members have experienced similar anxiety while waiting for results and navigating the healthcare system with their loved ones.

I’m so sorry you and your husband are in this difficult waiting period. The time between a biopsy and getting answers can feel unbearable, and the mental strain is very real. While you’re waiting for results and an official oncology appointment, here are a couple options for support: 1) Ask Outcomes4Me: At the very bottom of the app’s home page, there’s an Ask Outcomes4Me box. Submitting your question there goes directly to an oncology nurse, who can provide 1:1 guidance and usually responds pretty quickly. 2)Reach out to your care team: Even if you don’t have an oncologist yet, your primary care doctor or the doctor who ordered the biopsy can sometimes answer urgent symptom questions or help ease the waiting period. You’re in the right place here for community support, and it’s okay to share what you’re feeling. Many of us understand that “mental anguish” is a very real part of this process. We’re thinking of you and your husband as you wait for answers. 💛 Suzanne (Community Moderator)

I know how awful it is to wait..I recd my pathology report on my patient gateway portal then didn't hear from dr for another 8 days.i looked it all up & already knew the outcome before I spoke w dr. Its So STRESSFUL but I tried to stay in the moment day to day realizing I was only 1 of multiple pts waiting for answers & I needed to be PATIENT....ITs really helpful to stay occupied & do deep breathing exercises or go for a walk...when u really r soooooo anxious to get answers....good luck..will keep u in my prayers

I’m sorry. Ask God for strength. Ask for help when you’re overwhelmed. It helps to talk. Good luck. ❤️🙏❤️
