3 months agoI was diagnosed with bladder cancer in Nov 2024. I’ve since had an operation to remove it, went thru 6 gcb treatments, tested again via cystoscopy. The Doctor found more cancer and I had a second operation, 6 more BCG treatments and another cystoscopy. The Doctor found the some cancer still. He wants me to go to another Doctor in Miami for a third TURBT. Miami is an hour away and I’m wondering if I can see a specialist here in Boca Raton, perhaps at Lynn Cancer Institute. I feel I need a team rather than an individual doctor. Does anyone have similar experience or advice?

Seeking a second opinion from a local specialist or cancer center team can be a valuable approach, especially when dealing with persistent cancer after multiple treatments. Many patients find that having a multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care and different perspectives on treatment options. Consider reaching out to local cancer centers to discuss your case and see what specialized bladder cancer expertise they offer - this way you can explore all your options before deciding on the best path forward for your care.

2 months agoHi, I was diagnosed with high-grade T1 bladder cancer, had tumor removed , and now have just started with BCG treatment. I've been reading what you all have gone through, and 1st of all, I'm so sorry for what you are going through my heart and thoughts are with you all 💚 Has anyone had a successful BCG experience. I'm so scared that it will end up in my kidneys! Am I wasting precious time with this type of treatment? I would appreciate any input. Thanks for listening.

2 months agoBCG is supposed to be the gold standard treatment but it can fail in many people. It failed with me twice. I am now going to get a gemcitabine treatment done in a similar way 6x. It also has a second chemical Docetaxel. This is fairly new. I hope it works. Scheduled to start in October with a cystoscopy test Jan 4. Good luck to you.

a month agoI did the gemcitabine several times, had a brief reprieve of the bladder cancer, but it kept coming back. Finally had the Urostomy and Prostatectomy in October 2024.
