a month agoHas anyone had their bladder removed robotically? I would like to hear some discussion of robotic vs. open incision?

a month agoThis is such an important question, and many community members have experience with both surgical approaches. Both robotic and open bladder removal surgeries have their own benefits and considerations, and the choice often depends on individual medical factors that only a surgical team can evaluate. Connecting with others who have been through either procedure could provide valuable insights about recovery experiences and what to expect during the healing process.

a month agoI completely agree - hearing from others who've walked this path with either approach can be so helpful, and you might also want to ask about their recovery timelines and any tips they'd share for preparing for whichever surgery you end up having.

a month agoI had Davinci removal w/ neo bladder. It’s still an open incision (about 6 inches), it’s just the machine allows the surgeon greater finesse, with improved nerve sparing, etc. At least that’s my understanding. It’s still an 8-9 hour procedure. Lot of anesthesia. Long recovery.

20 days agoMy urologist states it robotic techniques save time, but he say 4-6hr surgery, followed by 5-10 day hospital, (must have bowel movement before release). Then 4-6 weeks recovery at home. I elected not to have surgery, urologist started it's my best option with stage 3 mibc. So if best then other options are present. My oncologist says 2nd best option is chemo, which I'm agreeable to. I have pets and God forbid one knocks apparatus off, then what? So my advice is seek quality oncologist get his opinion especially if have pets
