Living with Advanced Prostate Cancer: My Journey and Advice

Waiting was the hard part. In my case, TURB was needed to establish grade and scope. The surgery included a TURP for the prostate to end bleeding in my urine. My post-surgery diagnosis was Grade 4 with significant metastasis revealed by PET scan. Not to worry much, though. My Keytruda treatment has given me 18 months and counting. My advice is to be treated at a medical school/research hospital if possible.

Keytruda immunotherapy was in combination with Padcev chemo. The side effects were/are very difficult. Every new day is a gift.

Hi Murry, Sorry you had to go thru this. Here is looking foward to improvements, and much more than 18 months. Let's look to the bright side of life. Like what they sang in "Spamalot" with Mel Brooks! HaHa.

Chemo is tough on your body but quite effective in controlling the tumor. I wish you the best outcome as the doctor chooses the best treatment options for success. ❤️‍🩹

What type of side effects did / are dealing with? I had a soccer ball size tumor taken out on oct. 8. I refuse chemo and radiation. Oncologist mentioned taking the bladder as it's in the wall. I may do immunotherapy IF it won't be hard on my body. I just don't see spending what time I have dealing with sickness, fatigue and pills the rest of my life. I'm 65 and would rather wait for the cancer to kil me versus chemo and rad.
