25 days agoI am Dx with T1 bladder CA. I started with 6 BCG treatments but because I had a reaction to the Covid Vaccine 4 years ago (CIDP)my second urologist started me on Gem/Dox. Originally I had a 6-7 cm tumor High Grade removed but did not go into the muscle. I had my first chemo and due for second this week. First time I couldn’t keep the meds in the full time. Has anyone had that experience and what has worked for them to mitigate that.

25 days agoIs it advisable when treating bladder cancer to have a special oncologist in addition to your urologist/surgeon?

23 days agoI also have difficulty keeping the meds in for two hours after BCG infusion. I’m going to abstain from drinking any fluids for several hours before treatment next time.

19 days agoWhen I had my initial bcg treatments, I stayed in office and laid on the table for 2 hours,. Then they emptied the bladder. It got easier after the first 2 and I was able to walk at the mall or go home or just sit in my car for 2 hours and hold the bcg.

17 days agoI also started with BCG - 2 years worth. Was ready to get to the 3 weekly once a year stage and there was a shortage. Had to go to Gem once a month for a year. Most of my appointments were at 9:00 am, and I usually had very little fluids after 9 pm the night before. Never had an issue with holding BCG, but the Gem was uncomfortable. I have an hour commute from the center to get home, and I would squirm in seat as my mind focussed on trying to hold it the whole way. So instead of driving right away, I started walking around the center, I'd sit and check some email, walk some more while jamming to some music, and once my body and mind weren't dwelling on holding it, I'd start to head home.

14 days agoLike the other person, I avoided drinking at. east 4 hours before the procedure. I also try to keep my mind of it by doing stuff around. The first one, I went home and sit in a chair and waited and it was awful as my mind keep reminding me I needed to pee. I decided to keep my mind off it by starting cooking dinner that night and it works. Stay strong, it.gping.to get better. Much love.
