2 months agoThe waiting period for test results can feel overwhelming, especially when there are so many treatment decisions ahead. Many patients find that results typically come back within 1-2 weeks, though timing can vary depending on the specific tests being done. It's completely understandable to have concerns about different treatment options - these are big decisions that deserve careful consideration with your medical team who knows your specific situation best.

2 months agoGood morning. Definitely talk with him about the pros and cons of taking tamoxifen. I am post menopausal . I opted to take an aromatase inhibitor.

2 months agoOh i have had every possible side effect seems like. The stomach upset went away with taking it late in day. Hot flashes are mild and less frequent. I had bad joints to begin with and it definitely made them more painful after about 6 months. Another patient told me to try Claritin and that might have helped. Cortisone shots in knees helped. Also, the side effects come and go or decrease over time. And oncology told me i can try changing to a different drug if I need to. I think hormone therapy is at least worth a try, for me anything that makes recurrence less likely is worth a try.

2 months agoThere is a new very promising drug which is now fast tracking for FDA approval called Giradestrent which will replace the need for tamoxifen and Letrozole (Femara). Fewer side effects and increased survival and lower risk for reoccurrence for HR positive, HER2 negative breast cancer. First new drug in 25 years! My oncologist said it should be available this year.
