What's it like starting Calquence for CLL? First month experiences?

I have chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and started taking Calquence (acalabrutinib) about a month ago. My doctor explained that this targeted therapy works by blocking proteins that help cancer cells grow and survive. I'm still recovering from pneumonia I had recently, and I've noticed some mild chest heaviness, though my care team thinks it's more likely related to my recovery than the medication. I'd love to connect with others who have similar experiences with CLL treatment. • If you've been on Calquence or similar targeted therapies, what has your experience been like in the first few months? • How do you manage monitoring side effects while adjusting to treatment?

Starting a new targeted therapy like this can bring up many questions, and it's completely natural to want to connect with others who've walked a similar path. The first few months of any new treatment often involve learning how your body responds and working closely with your care team to monitor any changes. Many patients in the CLL community find it helpful to keep a simple journal of how they're feeling day-to-day, which can make it easier to discuss any patterns or concerns during follow-up appointments. Connecting with others who understand this journey firsthand can provide valuable insights and emotional support during this adjustment period.
