My tumor has shrunk I don’t understand why I need surgery and then radiation I feel I should get radiation and be done with it. I feel like if I’m being cut on the cancer is gonna spread I’ve got Tnbc stage lll cause my lymph nodes under my arm are a little cancerous I realize they need to be removed by surgery. My predicament is if the tumor has shrunk why should I go through the whole protocol of chemo but my daughter whose a nurse practitioner says it’s best to because it adds to longevity but the cancer can still come back. Monday will be my fifth round of chemo. Please explain so I can get a better understanding.

I’ve also been told by several people to take soursop which is described as all natural but the seeds are toxic and I was also thinking about taking a broc supplements cause it supposedly rebuilds you what you think please advise.

Surgery remains an important part of treatment even when tumors shrink because it helps remove any remaining cancer cells that chemotherapy might not have eliminated, giving the best chance for long-term success. Many patients in this community have wondered about similar treatment decisions, and it's completely natural to want to understand each step of the process - these are big decisions that deserve thoughtful consideration with your medical team who knows your specific situation best.

“All natural” does not automatically mean safe, and there is no clinical evidence that soursop treats cancer. The seeds are toxic, and concerns have also been raised about possible nerve toxicity from concentrated or prolonged use. The fruit itself is generally considered safe to eat, but the seeds should never be consumed. A food-first approach is usually safest. Memorial Sloan Kettering has a great tool to lookup the safety of herbs and supplements. Here is a link to info on soursop and broccoli-sprout supplements. 💛Suzanne (Community Moderator) https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/herbs/graviola https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/herbs/broccoli-sprouts

I think you should get a second opinion if you are not convinced surgery is necessary. It would be helpful to have another oncologist look at your case and give you a professional opinion. Your point is valid this is your body your choice.

If your tumor has shrunk but is still present you have cancer in your body. Have the surgery and remove it. Radiation and chemotherapy are given afterwards to kill cells that may remain.
