2 months agoHello everyone… I had my sigmoid colon surgery a month ago… the bowel is still not reset like how it was before.. sometimes the frequency of going to the latrine is too much around 6-7 times and other days i feel constipated… is it normal ?

2 months agoIt's completely understandable to have concerns about bowel changes following sigmoid colon surgery, and what you're experiencing is quite common during the recovery period. Your digestive system needs time to adjust after surgery, and fluctuations between increased frequency and constipation are often part of the healing process. Be sure to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare team, as they can provide personalized guidance and reassurance about your specific recovery timeline.

a month agoI had my sigmoid removed in September and am now getting chemotherapy. Like you, my bowels are not predictable. I am eating only low fiber food, and am never sure how my digestion will be if I try anything new. So you're not alone in this journey. But I have great hope for a healthy future. Be sure your doctor is aware of your symptoms so he can help you.

a month agoBut why do they recommend low fibre.. my doctor said to have adequate fibre.. may be thats why i am having more bowel movement

a month agoMy diet is the one thing I am most confused about. I get very little info from my doctor.

a month agoExactly… diet should be given utmost importance atleast in cancers like these… because when a part of colon is removed… it disrupts gut microbiome and dier plays pivotal role in healing and rebuilding, aligning colon again… but sadly even my doctor doesnt tell much about diet… I am really confused…

a month agoI had mine done almost 5 yrs ago and I still can only go every 5 or 6 days and it’s brutal, takes everything out of me for at least 2 days. Anyone else with this problem?

a month agoJohn, can you specify? What does that mean… do you have your bowel moment once in 3-4 days or its other way round

4 days agoHello John so sorry to hear how much pain your in to have to endure a mere normal bodily function.. I got my colostomy bag about 3 weeks ago and my Doc wrote me a script for Polyethylene Glycol 3350 . I know it sounds like something you'd run your car on 😃! But whatever works right 😊 . I'm only supposed to take a capful 17 G daily for 10days . You just mix it with some water and it's basically tasteless and it's supposed to get you as regular as you can be . And I'm still getting there but I'm not having near the struggle that your talking about. That would concern me as to leading to other issues .Anyway ask your Dr. about it and see if you can get some regularity going on ! . Let me know if you get some and how it works for you .
