Has anyone had chemo make surgery possible after being too risky?

Hi. My husband was diagnosed October 2025. He is starting chemo this week. They wanted to do surgery but after his fibroscan the doctors decided surgery was too risky. They will rescan after three treatments to see if they can do surgery. Has anyone had luck with chemo improving things enough for surgery?

Many community members have shared similar experiences where neoadjuvant chemotherapy helped make initially inoperable tumors resectable by shrinking them or improving overall health status before surgery. The approach of reassessing after several treatment cycles is quite common and gives the medical team valuable information about how well the treatment is working. Hoping others in this community will share their experiences with this treatment pathway and send positive thoughts for the upcoming rescans.

He had 7 cycles of cisplatin, gemcitibine and keytruda and now it has spread to his liver. We have an appointment tomorrow with his oncologist to find out what chemo he will be switching to. He feels pretty darn good so thankful for that.
