2 years agoHow much does Coldcapping cost? Does Insurance pay for it?
Accepted Answer
Cold capping costs typically range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars depending on the treatment length and method used, and insurance coverage varies widely by provider and plan. Many patients find it helpful to contact their insurance company directly to ask about coverage and connect with others here who may have navigated similar insurance questions for their HER2+ treatment journey.

6 months agoMy insurance didn’t pay for it. I rented the caps for 4 months and paid about $400/month. I also spent another $60/week for dry ice. Some companies have financial assistance if you need it. Also, some hospitals may have the equipment available at their site for you to use. I had 12 weeks of treatment. For me it was well worth it. It helped me keep a sense of normalcy while going through the treatment and recovery. You need to be really dedicated for it to work and follow all if the instructions. You also need a dedicated helper. My husband was my capper :) It’s a lot of work, but it’s like anything else and you get used to it. Make sure your chemo drugs are compatible. Mine was Taxol and cold caps worked well. I lost very little hair.

6 months agoTalk to your treatment facility, you may qualify to have it paid for if they offer it. I am using Paxman cold capping brand and they also offer scholarships.
