8 days agoHi everyone 🤍 Is there anyone here who, after neoadjuvant chemo and surgery, had HER2-positive breast cancer (ER/PR-negative, node-negative) and was prescribed only Herceptin? In my case, Herceptin was recommended, but capecitabine (Xeloda) tablets were also suggested. After reviewing the available data and considering my pathology (ypT1aN0, RCB-I), I decided not to take capecitabine, as I couldn’t find strong evidence that it improves outcomes in this low-risk setting, while it does add systemic toxicity. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and what treatment plan you followed. Wishing everyone healing, strength, and good spirits 💕

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful approach to treatment decisions and reaching out to connect with others who have similar experiences. Treatment paths for HER2+ breast cancer can vary significantly based on individual pathology results and risk factors, so hearing from community members who have navigated similar decisions can provide valuable perspective. The HER2+ community here includes many members who have experience with different combinations of targeted therapies, and connecting with others who understand the complexities of weighing treatment options and potential side effects can be incredibly helpful during this time.

5 days agoI am the same as you with one difference, I had one positive cell in a lymph node. They’re treating it as negative. The protocol I was given was for a year of herceptin and perjeta. I opted to do six months as opposed to a year and my doctor was ok with that. There was a study that showed no difference between six months and a year. My doctor is actually conducting his own study on that. Because of the consistent diarrhea with the perjeta, I am only continuing with their herceptin for six months. The doctor is ok with that since I had such a great response with the TCHP treatment. I’m also ok with it since there aren’t any guarantees for anything and the less harm I can do to my body with these treatments the better. I wish you the best.
