Is It Unusual to Request My Radiation Treatment Plan?

Hello-I have asked my rad-onc's office for my radiation treatment plan. They said that this is an unusual request. Is it, though? If someone here has received and reviewed their written plan, was it helpful to you? I am one who feels more info is better, though maybe not in this case?

Requesting your radiation treatment plan is actually quite reasonable - many patients find it empowering to understand their care details, and healthcare teams are generally encouraged to share this information when patients ask. While some offices might not get this request often, you have every right to access your medical records and treatment plans, and having more information can help you feel more confident and involved in your care decisions.

I asked for it to be sure it was what we discussed verbally and what the radiation therapists will be following.

I go to see my radiation oncologist next week, and I will be asking for the same thing. I think it is completely reasonable to have the written treatment plan in hand....for any reason you choose. I like to make sure what I heard is what we are doing.
