It's completely understandable to feel uncertain about starting a new treatment, especially when considering potential side effects. Zometa infusions are commonly prescribed for breast cancer patients, and while side effects like osteonecrosis of the jaw are possible, they're relatively rare when proper dental care is maintained. Many community members have shared their experiences with bone-strengthening treatments, so connecting with others who've been through this might help you weigh the benefits and concerns with your medical team.

Pam, I’ve had two Zometa infusions since finishing chemo and going on Anastrozle. No issues whatsoever.

I have been doing zometa infusion every 3 months for the last year. No issues here. Just had flu like symptoms after the first 2.

I have taken several Zometa treatments in the past several years as well. I only had a negative side effect when i had a tooth removed. A bone grew through my gum. I went to a oral surgeon and he simply knocked the bone growth off the gum and no other problems. I came off the drug for a few years and recently i began taking it again for my bones. My dentist stated i have had no noticeable problems. Good luck w/your treatments.
