I have the BRCA2 gene. My breast cancer is stage 1a . Because of the risk of ovarian cancer it is recommended that I have my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. My CA125 and pelvic ultrasound are normal. I am 74. I would welcome advise

This is such a significant decision to consider, especially while navigating breast cancer treatment. Many patients with BRCA2 mutations face similar choices about preventive surgery, and the timing and benefits can vary greatly from person to person based on individual health factors and circumstances. Speaking with your oncologist and perhaps a gynecologic oncologist who specializes in hereditary cancer syndromes could help you weigh the potential benefits and risks specific to your situation, and others in this community may have valuable experiences to share about their own decision-making process.
