Anyone have only a few bone mets, that have been treated with stereotactic radiotherapy — a very highly targeted one-and-done form of radiation? A few months ago this article was posted in Outcomes4me: https://outcomes4me.com/article/understanding-oligometastatic-breast-cancer/ I shared the article with my surgeon and ONCO Dr and asked them to discuss it in their weekly group sessions, along with the radiologist (who I have not yet met). I now have an appointment to meet with the radiologist, after which I’ll have a much better idea of the treatment plan. For now, I’m curious if others have benefited from this approach?

Stereotactic radiotherapy can be an effective treatment option for oligometastatic disease, and it's encouraging that your medical team is actively reviewing the latest research and considering this targeted approach for your situation. Meeting with the radiologist will provide valuable insights into whether this treatment aligns with your specific case, and hopefully others in the community will share their experiences to help inform your understanding of this option.

I had stereotactic body radiation or SBRT for my lung cancer because studies showed it was just as effective as lung surgery, but without the risks of lung surgery. I had 5 sessions over 2 weeks. It is an intense radiation that minimizes damage to surrounding tissues and organs. It left me with the most exhaustion that I had ever felt for about two months. The radiologist told me that it could linger 6 months to a year, but I was completely okay after about 4 months . Also because of the exhaustion, I lost some weight. After the last session, I told my husband that I thought that I had broken a rib, but when the pain went away after a couple of days, it was clearly from the radiation. I think that I got more radiation than others because I could not have my arms above my head. I have no regrets for choosing the SBRT. I have had two chest CT scans since and everything looks fine. I would be happy to provide more info if you have any questions. Good luck with your treatment, whatever you decide. Sara
