a year agoIs it normal to go through radiation treatments, and the breast gets SUPER sensitive? It's driving me crazy and I don't know how to make it stop.
Accepted Answer
Breast sensitivity during radiation is a very common side effect that many people experience, so what you're going through is completely understandable. Speaking with your radiation team about comfort measures and when this sensitivity typically improves can be really helpful - they often have great suggestions for managing this challenging part of treatment.

6 months agoI have not gone through my radiation yet. (August) My BFF who had it said yes, for her it did. She didn’t say what she did about it, but she was just telling me some things to expect.

6 months agoI have 2 more radiation treatments to go. Total of 21. I will say that the side effects are individualized. My treated breast became very sensitive during the second week. But then the sensitivity lessened during the 3rd week. Now, with the last 3 sessions being focused on the area where the lump was and not the entire breast any longer, my breast is numb to the touch. I keep the breast moisturized daily. Maybe that helped. I was told not to wear bras with underwire. I now see why as it is irritating the skin under there. A big side affect is the tiredness after treatment tho. Don’t know if it’s just me, but it really does cause some exhaustion. I move so slow now. No matter how much I will it, my body moves differently now. What a journey! I wish you well. And be sure to rest every chance you get. It helps the daily recovery. ❤️🩹💞

6 months agoI just finished 10 of my 20 treatments. I am using eucerin lotion 3 times a day. I have breast pain and sensitivity. I take Advil if it is hurting. Taking bra off and having nothing on the skin at all is helpful. Definitely have fatigue.advil helps me feel less sick .Still working full time in a medical lab so at least I am able to do that so far.
