2 years agoIs anyone currently or have you in the past continued with herceptin infusions through the veins vs a port. My plastic surgeon wants my port out now, 3 months prior to final phase of reconstruction, and I’m wondering if it’s just the same to get the infusions without it.
Accepted Answer
Many people do continue with Herceptin through regular IV access rather than a port, though the experience can vary from person to person. The timing decision between your plastic surgeon and oncology team is definitely something worth discussing thoroughly with both doctors to ensure the best coordination of your care. Others in this community may have valuable insights about their own experiences with different infusion methods, so hopefully you'll hear from members who have navigated similar situations during their treatment and reconstruction journey.
