a year agoI finally got my pathology results. ER and PR positive (>90%), HER2 -, clean margins, no lymph node involvement. All good! They are taking my case to the tumor board agin this week. Has anyone here had this profile and ONLY done hormone therapy??
Accepted Answer
Congratulations on receiving such positive pathology results! Many people in this community have navigated similar treatment decisions with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, and treatment plans can vary significantly based on individual factors that oncology teams consider. The tumor board review will help ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly evaluated to determine the most appropriate treatment approach. This community is a great place to connect with others who may have similar experiences to share.

6 months agoI had a choice of just hormone therapy or combining it with radiation. Because I tend to have side effects from everything and suspected that I might not be able to tolerate the pills , I opted for five sessions of radiation followed by hormone therapy. I have been on examestane for about two weeks. Jury is still out on tolerability.

6 months agoI wish you well! I’m leaning towards just hormone therapy.

6 months agoSame diagnosis. No lymph involved. Did 14 rounds of radiation and supposed to start suppression meds in another month.

6 months agoI had the same results. Did 20 days of radiation after lumpectomy and now on Arimidex which I’m tolerating pretty well so far

6 months agoStacy- please let me know what you based your decision on- it’s how I’m leaning- but it would be with Lertozole.

6 months agoI am 50 years old and my oncotype score was 25 with a 12% recurrence risk at 9 years and only 1% chemo benefit.

6 months agoDid you get oncotype score?

6 months ago@Stacy - I have not and I believe I won’t be but will ask.

6 months agoI was diagnosed with ER and PR positive, HER2 negative in September 2023. The Oncotype test was 16, so no chemo. I did 20 radiation treatments and am now taking anastrozole since Feb. 2024. I do experience side effects, but I am managing. Best wishes and prayers as you continue on this journey.

6 months agoSame diagnosis. I also have BRAC2 gene mutation. So, I did a bilateral mastectomy in Feb. 2024. 4 nodes removed & no sign of cancer - praise the Lord! My oncotype scores were low, so no chemo or radiation. I'm 66, post menopausal so I've been taking anastrozole. At this point, no major issues. Some weird joint popping sounds, but thankfully, no pain.I have to stretch before I get out of bed or if I've been sitting a while. Due to BRAC2 I also had a hysterectomy (cervix, uterus, tubes, and ovaries) June 2024. I also have osteoporosis. In March 2024, I had 1 infusion of RECLAST. Felt tired, but otherwise tolerated it. I think what is helping with my anxiety is finding things I can control in this unfair, out of control state of being I/we find ourselves in. Like my diet. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos about diet and supplements for cancer survivors. Also, different exercises I can do at home. Even 5 min. of deep breathing and stretches seems to help me feel more settled.

6 months agoSame, had chemo (16 doses), a mastectomy ( no node involvement) and radiation (30), now on femara & kisqali. Oncotyoe 47. Tumor board was back & forth on radiation but ended up supporting it. Staged at 3A, prognosis is now 2A.

6 months agoSame diagnosis. Oncotype score was 21, no need for chemo or radiation. I did choose a bilateral mastectomy/reconstruction. I was placed on hormone therapy alone and felt very reassured by what the doctors told me. 2 1/2 years later I have bone metastasis and am now stage 4. Cancer is so unpredictable and truly an evil being.

6 months agoI didn’t get onco test. Any ideas why?
Community Member
6 months agoJenny B, are you HER2+ or triple negative? If so that is why no onco test because chemo is normally recommended for those subtypes.

6 months agoI didn’t get onco test either. (This group was the first time I had heard of it). I was diagnosed ER/PR+ and HER2- I had 25 sessions of radiation (only because a second small tumor was found during my lumpectomy) and I was supposed to start hormone blockers right afterwards, but decided not to after much research. I have Fibromyalgia and am sensitive and react to everything and the oncologist wasn’t even sure how beneficial it would be for me. I am 79 and had an ultra low risk mammoprint which he said wasn’t seen often.

6 months agohi D’Vorah K, my mom just had lumpectomy clear Margins no lymph node involvement 69 years old type two diabetic and takes Blood press meds, thyroid meds, and cholesterol. She has the same stats as you sounds like and meeting w radiation and medical oncologist in few weeks to discuss treatment .. her surgeon said with radiation And hormone pill Her recurrence rate is only 2% and without radiation at 5%. Just worried if the risk of radiation outweighs the small benefit ..

6 months agoSame here Oncotype 16. 50 years old Tamoxifen only with 5 days direct radiation

6 months agoUPDATE: Grade 1, Stage 1a, encapsulated, no lymph involvement- I’m 76. Radiologist gave me options based on probable reoccurance %age. I’m choosing Ultra Hypofractionated Radiation- which is Five days of more intense radiation with the same outcome of 5 weeks at a lesser dosage, and fewer side effects, the main one being fatigue. And that’s it. Reoccurence
