2 years agoMouth sores, let’s hear your home remedies and onco recommendations. How long do they last? I’m being diligent about my oral care and feel like I may have one coming on.
Accepted Answer
Mouth sores can be one of the more challenging side effects during treatment, and it sounds like staying proactive with oral care is a smart approach. Many community members find gentle remedies like salt water rinses, ice chips, or soft foods helpful, though it's always best to check with your care team about what works best with your specific treatment plan - they often have great suggestions and can let you know how long to expect them to last.

6 months agoI get them all the time. Since childhood. Listerine, you can get the generic it's cheaper. It will clean them thoughly, and heal up faster. Swish until the sting is gone. ❤️

6 months agoMy dentist recommended I stop using toothpaste with sodium lauryl sulfate. She also told me to rinse my mouth with exclear nasal rinse, which has xylitol in it. I can't eat xylitol because it upset my stomach. Xylitol reduces bacteria in the mouth, which helps reduce mouth sores.

6 months agoI second the toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulfate. It's hard to find in the grocery store. I order verve from Amazon. My son hates the taste so he gets a different one. I'll share the name if I can find it.

6 months agoThank you all. My friend turned me on to Schmidts’ toothpaste and it’s not too bad. I was diligent and avoided them round 1, hoping for the same outcome round 2

6 months agoI make a mouth rinse. 1tsp baking soda, 1tsp salt 16 oz warm water. I keep in a sports bottle. I rinse 4 times a day to help stabilize the PH in my mouth.
