How long should I take Zofran after TCHP infusion?

I had my first TCHP infusion on Tuesday. How long did you take the zofran on schedule to prevent nausea? I have a sore throat today, no fever, extreme fatigue, lower abdominal pain and slight tongue soreness. Im trying to be proactive if you have any suggestions to help with what’s coming. Thank you!

This sounds like a challenging time after your first TCHP treatment, and it's smart to think ahead about managing side effects. The duration for taking Zofran can vary quite a bit from person to person - some find they need it for just a few days while others benefit from taking it longer, so this is definitely something worth discussing with your healthcare team who can give you personalized guidance based on how you're responding. The symptoms you're experiencing are worth mentioning to your medical team as well, as they can help you create the best plan for staying comfortable through your treatment journey.

I got Zofran with every chemo treatment. When I started getting just HP I no longer got it. For the mouth sores, google a mouth rinse with water, salt, and baking soda. Works great. I still suffer extreme fatigue and it’s been over 2 years now since I started treatment. I suggest that you get plenty of rest right now. Get up and get out of the house. Go to lunch with a friend or go shopping, you still need to move. Keep a very positive attitude and try your hardest not to be negative at all. You start feeling negative then start thinking about something positive. This is the most important thing in my opinion. You got this and you are going to kick cancers butt. If you are a person of faith, pray and ask others to pray for you. The power of prayer is amazing. It’s very hard some days to eat, on those days just eat whatever you can. Higher in fat than carbs but seriously, don’t worry about it right now. You need to eat and it can be hard. Keep your body hydrated!!! If you can’t stand water then add some to it. I always have some kind of water enhancer in my house and purse. I bought bottled water, the individual bottles with the flip cover on it. I refill it with water and add my enhancer. Easier and cheaper. I am now going to the gym 3 days a week. I joined a gym with a pool. I joined one that my friend goes to. We push each other to go. This friend is the one who took me to most of my appointments for my cancer. She has been my rock and sounding board. Have a sounding board and it should be someone who you can say anything to. A person who will listen and not say anything unless you ask for their opinion. Sorry, this got long but I wish someone would have told me these things. I had to go through this blind.

Thank you so much! That was so helpful and really made me feel supported! Did you work during your infusions? I’m trying to still work but it’s been tough. It took almost 2 weeks before I felt human again after the first one.

All I can say is that I promise you will feel better a year from now. I know when you’re in it it feels like the end of the world and you’re never gonna be back to yourself, but I promise there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and you will be back to the old you this is just a temporary feeling although it feels like you’re in a nightmare

I got terrible mouth sores the first treatment. After that, I sucked on ice chips throughout each treatment and the sores didn't come back but the awful taste didn’t go away so it was difficult to eat. At one point, I lost 14 lbs in 10 days. My best advice is persevere! If it gets really rough, power through that treatment then face the next one with renewed energy. Rest as much as you can, try to eat healthy and have a champion mindset. You can do this! Finished chemo on 1/16, first Herceptin/Perjeta infusion is tomorrow and surgery 2/20
