Zometa (zoledronic acid) is a medication that some breast cancer patients receive to help strengthen bones and reduce the risk of bone complications. Many community members have shared experiences with bone-strengthening treatments, and connecting with others who have similar treatment questions can provide valuable insights and support during this journey.

I have not - but I am talking to my Oncologist about it at my appointment this Friday the 15th. I have every 3 month infusions at the hospital. I have full blood work see my Oncologist and discuss PET scan, go over blood-work, decide any changes and then have my Zometa infusion. I am on Letrozole and thinking about the fulvestrent shot. It is supposed to be more targeted endrocine therapy.

I currently am on Zomata. I get infusions every 3 months. I’ve had 2 and have taken Claritin about 30” before infusion. The infusion nurse infused over 30” and I was slightly fatigued after the first one. I took Claritin the following day also. I just had another the other day. Same routine with Claritin and 30” infusion and no side effects. My oncologist told me I may be on it for 2 years. I have 2 small lesions in my lower spine. I’ve had 3 radiation treatments to that area too. My last PET scanned showed they are shrinking quite a bit. I’m also on letrozle and Kisqali. Diagnosed 5 months ago.

I have had one Zometa infusion. I had no side effects. I will have them every 6 mos. I am also on letrozole and Ibrance right now. My cancer was lobular in left breast. I had single mastectomy and 28 sessions of radiation because the lump was large and 29 lymph nodes were cancerous. I am 86 and very healthy so with each new step, I strongly consider no further treatment. Very difficult decisions each time. Warm wishes to all. Doctors are making best possible decisions based on their info. So are we. But there are no guarantees. Live life.

I’m getting Zometa infusions every 6 mos. No side effects. I’m also getting a Lupron injection every 3 mos. and taking Anastrozole every day. Diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer on rt side in 2020 and had bilateral mastectomy. Also removed 3 cancerous lymph nodes. Just had a full body bone scan this week and it came back negative so that’s awesome!

I get Zometa infusion every three months as my cancer was detected in my bones as well. Started out every month and now down to every 3 months. Takes 15 to 20 minutes via IV. My side effects are soreness in joints, etc. Usually 2 to 3 days following infusion. Nurse said to take Claritin prior to the infusion to help with this.
