What's Your Post-Lumpectomy Monitoring Plan?

For those of you that have finished your primary treatment after lumpectomy, what are you doing for monitoring? I want to do alternating 6 month mammogram, 6 month MRI but my oncologist only wants to do mammogram. I’m not comfortable with this due to dense breasts. Just wondering what others are doing.

This sounds like a really important conversation to have with your healthcare team about what monitoring approach works best for your specific situation. Many people in similar circumstances have found it helpful to get a second opinion or discuss their concerns about dense breast tissue detection with their oncologist or even seek input from a breast imaging specialist. It would be great to hear from others about their monitoring experiences and how they navigated these discussions with their medical teams.

I have dense breasts and i am doing the MRI. I'm not sure if it alternates with the typical mammogram every six months or not though

Same for me. My cysts were found ONLY by MRI with contrast!!!!! Saved my life, wouldn’t even have known it!!!Not by mammogram! My surgeon said I would have both for sure going forward. You have to!!! All the best to you. Take care. God speed 💝
