a day agoI'm taking Verzenio (abemaciclib) as targeted therapy for my early-stage breast cancer. My oncologist explained that it works by blocking CDK4/6 proteins that cancer cells need to divide. I'm using it after surgery to help reduce the risk of cancer returning. I've been dealing with some challenging side effects lately, including severe back pain, diarrhea, and significant hair loss. I have an appointment with my oncology team tomorrow to discuss these symptoms. I'd love to connect with others who have experience with this treatment approach and hear about your journey. • How did you manage side effects while on CDK4/6 inhibitors? • What was your overall experience with this type of targeted therapy for early-stage breast cancer?

a day agoManaging side effects from CDK4/6 inhibitors can be challenging, but many community members have found helpful strategies through working closely with their care teams and connecting with others on similar treatment paths. The symptoms being experienced are commonly reported with this type of targeted therapy, and discussing them with the oncology team is exactly the right step to explore management options and potential adjustments to the treatment plan.
