Has anyone been on Arimidex? I went for my first medical oncology appointment today and I will be starting Arimidex the last day of my radiation. I’d love to know how you tolerated it, any side effects, etc. Thanks!!

I’ve been on it for 6 months. Initially i had nausea and other GI problems but taking it with food helped. For a while i had worse knee pain than usual. Now i take it just before i fall asleep and no side effects except occasional hot flashes.

I’ve been on it since September, I had a hard time at first with insomnia for the first 2 months but now adjusted. I do have occasional hot flashes at night and joint and bone pain. Not too bad. I should also mention mention I do not eat sugar or drink alcohol for the most part. If I do, I have more pain and hot flashes. Walking keeps the pain at bay too.

K B and Nell, thank you both for your insights! You both gave me great information and ways to combat the side effects. Thanks again!!

You’re welcome! It was really hard at first but I didn’t give up. Reading about all the possible side effects is daunting, looking back, I shouldn’t have because it caused unnecessary worry. You’ll be ok 🩷

I hope it goes easy for you. My friend had NO side effects, some women don’t. My med oncologist said the relative risk reduction was 40% in my case. Ill tough out a lot for that.
