a year agoI am 4 days post lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removal. So far my breast doesn’t hurt but my armpit is extremely sore and my arm is numb from my shoulder to elbow and my fingers are tingling. I will be having a follow up with the surgeon when the pathology reports comes back. Here’s hoping this doesn’t last.

What you're experiencing sounds really uncomfortable, and it's completely understandable to be concerned about these sensations after your recent surgery. The area around the armpit and arm can be quite sensitive after lymph node procedures, and many patients do report similar feelings during their recovery period. Your upcoming follow-up appointment will be a great opportunity to discuss these symptoms with your surgeon, who can provide specific guidance about your healing process and what to expect moving forward.

6 months agoI had lumpectomy with sentinel node removal June 10. I didn’t have numbness but the armpit is still sensitive and sometimes the underside of my arm is, too. The Norse said this is normal.

6 months agoI had my lumpectomy on 7/24 and I was more uncomfortable from the sentinel lymphn node biopsy. The nerve pain is slowly getting better. I have just been told by several doctors that it just takes time.

6 months agoMy arm pit was the absolute sorest. I had no pain at all, but that was sore all the way through radiation. I’m still sore, I completed my radiation on Aug. 7.

6 months agoI had a lumpectomy and sentinel node 6years ago and I still have some discomfort in that darn sentinel node site. Last year I had an ultrasound to make sure there wasn’t anything else going on, and thankfully there wasn’t, but every so often it still hurts. I’m also contemplating stopping my AI. It’s been 5 years but oncologist said (by retesting the tumor) that I would benefit from a few more years. I’m 63 and told him I’ll take it until I’m 65. But the aches and pains are really getting to me. I love to walk and hike, but have been dealing with a right foot painful and I didn’t have an injury, just happened after the hike a month ago. So frustrating. I always thought I’d do what they recommend, but I think I’m coming to the end of that! I want my pain free life back! And thicker hair and to lose the 25 pounds I’ve gained! Blessings All! Cancer isn’t for the faint of heart! 💕

6 months agoMy same surgery was 30 July. I have been going to PT & OT which has helped a lot plus massaging the area to keep the fluids moving. The surgeon and physical therapist said that it will get better, it just takes time.
