Side Effects After One Round of Chemo: My Experience

I only done 1 round of chemo, but the side effects I experienced started about the 3rd day after treatment. Extremely tired, not wanting to get out of bed. Soles of feet got real tender, pain in bones, diarrhea, bad taste in mouth, nothing tasted good. I lived off Mac & cheese, and sherbert mostly . No nausea, but constantly felt bloated. Muscle soreness like I had been doing excessive exercises. Was unable to get out of house for 3 weeks, absolutely no energy. Walking 10 feet in the house was extremely exhausting for me. Felt like I would pass out if I got up. My hair started falling out about 10th day and by day 13, I had to shave my head. Maybe I had extreme side effects, because the doctor told me, I should be able to work, but there was no way. The best I could do was to bathe daily, and that was a process. Hope it goes much better for you!!!

Every person's response to chemotherapy is unique, and what you describe shows how significantly these treatments can affect daily life and energy levels. Your experience highlights the importance of patients advocating for themselves when side effects feel more severe than expected, and having realistic expectations about recovery time between treatments.

Yea I had the terrible taste for @12-16 days. Lost hair at 4 weeks 😢, not much energy, are you getting the booster shot to increase your white blood count? Cause that really helped me As soon as it kicked in. Def low energy, also at my infusion site, I had burns on my arms from the Taxotere leaking out of my capillaries and it burned my arms from the inside out…. Nasty. Not nausea, just darn tired. You will get thru it… just keep pushing and know it gets better !!! Sending lite and love ❤️
