a year agoHi! I just completed round two of four dose dense AC, and then I will do 12 rounds of taxol to treat my Stage 3a IDC Er/Pr+, Her2- . I also get the Neulasta auto injected meds after chemo. My WBC count has stayed very high the past few weeks ( no infections) and so I’m wondering if anyone else experienced this as well? Chemo is supposed to lower your WBC count, and someone in a support group I’m in said that if your wbc count doesn’t go down, that means the chemo isn’t working. So now of course I’m worried and anxiety is setting in. I have an appointment with my med-onc Friday before my next round of AC, so I will ask her, but in the meantime I thought I’d ask if anyone else experienced something similar.

It's completely understandable to feel anxious when lab results don't match what you expected, especially when receiving conflicting information from different sources. Neulasta is specifically designed to boost white blood cell production to protect against infection during chemotherapy, so elevated counts while using this medication can be a normal response rather than a sign that treatment isn't working. Your upcoming appointment with your medical oncologist will provide the clarity you need, as they can review your specific labs in the context of your treatment plan and overall response.
