2 years agoIn March of 2024, I had a lumpectomy. The surgeon removed the 1.5 cm mass and 4 lymph nodes. Margins came back clear, and 1 of the 4 lymph nodes had cancer. I'm ER+ , PR+, and HERS - my ONCA score was 5. However, it looks like one of my scores was at 30%. I think that was the aggressive score. No chemotherapy, but probably starting radiation in a week. 20 sessions. Was prescribed Verzenio, Arimidex, and lupron injection every 3 months. Any thoughts on the medication or what lotion I should use during radiation would really help. I sunburn really easily, so I'm nervous about that as well.

Your treatment plan sounds comprehensive, and it's completely understandable to have questions about managing radiation side effects, especially with concerns about skin sensitivity. Many community members have found gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers helpful during radiation, and your radiation team will likely provide specific product recommendations based on their protocols. The nursing staff at your radiation center are excellent resources for both skincare guidance and addressing any concerns about your prescribed medications - they've helped countless patients navigate similar treatment plans successfully.

6 months agoHi Kristie. I’m in a similar situation and started radiation this week. 19 sessions in all. I asked about the ointments. The Nurse and doc both mentioned Aquafor. I think that’s how it’s spelled. They said it absorbs pretty well and since my sessions are in the late afternoons , I can use it in the mornings and it’ll be fine by the time I start the session. I asked about others she said CeraVe is good too. I will start using fresh aloe Vera from the plants once I start to become more irritated. I know that works on sunburns for sure. I’m a week in and will say I am sleeping a bit more. And slightly achy like a minor muscle pain but I was instructed to perform a few stretches and massages specific to easing the discomfort and moving the lymphatic fluid. Generally speaking..So far so good. I totally understand and know that everyone will have different outcome. But hopefully your nurse and doc will offer suggestions. Wishing you well. 💕💞

6 months agoHi Kristi, I’m also to start radiation in a couple weeks. Still up for discussion on how many sessions. My radiology oncologist told me about Miaderm. It was developed by radiation oncologist. You can get it on Amazon. I haven’t tried but will be purchasing for myself. Sending best wishes to you!!!
