7 months agoCan anyone who's had the scout localization inserted into your tumor prior to lumpectomy, can you tell me how painful it is? Comparing it ,say,to the initial breast biopsy.
Accepted Answer
Many community members have shared that scout localization can feel similar to a biopsy procedure, though pain levels vary from person to person. It's completely understandable to want to know what to expect, and hopefully others who have been through this experience will share their perspectives to help you feel more prepared for your upcoming procedure.

6 months agoKaren, I had MagSeed inserted the week before my lumpectomy. I didn’t have any pain from the initial biopsy, just some mild soreness. I found the MagSeed procedure a little more painful but it was not bad.

6 months agoWell you should not be able to feel it at all and I would say the biopsy was worse but I didn't have a lot of pain I would say irritated more than anything

6 months agoSame. Nothing different from biopsy. Slight soreness.

6 months agoThanks for all of the input. I almost passed out during the breast biopsy so they gave me IV sedation with the axillary lymph node biopsy and it went well. I'm just trying to decide if I need sedation or not.

6 months agoHmmm. I think i could have used sedation during my biopsy, was awful and took so long. Got stabbed multiple times, core biopsy needle repeatedly repositioned. The magseed placement was short and almost painless though.

6 months agoI had the Scout placed, quicker than biopsy but similar. I suggest you take something for pain an hour before any procedure. Tylenol or stronger but stay away from ibuprofen or aspirin. Most the time was spent imaging and double checking where the biopsy markers were. They clean and numb area then inject the little tiny seed... about 15 minutes after I had some pain for half an hour. Take some ice packs with you. They wanted me to keep the injection site circled with a marker. I used a skin marker. No bruising.

6 months agoHi I had the Savi Scout and I found it to be very similar to the biopsy. Mild discomfort. The needle for numbing hurt more than anything else. Good luck. You got this.

6 months agoNot painful. A pinch and some minor discomfort, but the injection to numb the area works. If it is still uncomfortable, they can give you more.
