Can Anastrozole Cause Low Iron?

Has anyone that’s on Anastrozole experienced low iron? When I looked it up on Google it says that it can be a contributing factor. My Oncologist says there is no connection. I’ve never in my life (age 71) had low iron. Last blood test showed 3.3 reading. After googling that, it seems that is dangerously low. I had an iron infusion last Tuesday and another one scheduled tomorrow.

Many patients report various side effects while on hormone therapy treatments, and it's understandable to wonder about potential connections when new symptoms appear. While medication side effects can vary from person to person, it's encouraging that your medical team is addressing your iron levels promptly with infusions. Have others in the community noticed changes in their blood work during treatment? Discussing any concerns with your healthcare team and perhaps seeking a second opinion if needed can help ensure you're getting the comprehensive care you deserve.

I’m on anastrozole, and I have a wbc issue, low counts. Developed a few infections. My oncologist also said no connection, not a side effect. I saw a hematologist and they possibly suspect it’s the issue. He says my body doesn’t like the medicine and try another AI or go off all together. I am also on Lupron since I’m premenopausal, so that really lowers estrogen. I would keep asking questions.
