Have any of you had your platelets get so low it interfered in not being able to continue your chemo? If so what did you and your doctors do about it?

Low platelet counts can indeed impact chemotherapy scheduling, and this concern comes up for many patients during treatment. When platelets drop too low, oncologists often need to adjust treatment plans, which might include delaying the next cycle, reducing doses, or sometimes prescribing medications to help boost platelet production. Many community members have navigated similar challenges and may have helpful experiences to share about working with their care teams through these adjustments.

My doctor withheld chemo for a couple of weeks. Watch your hemoglobin, too. If it gets below 12 (12 is lowest normal) they will wait until it hits 7; then, you can get a transfusion.

My Dr discontinued the red devil chemo and withheld chemo for a few weeks. Then changed my chemo to the more natural based chemo, after we discussed the outcomes.

My doctor delayed chemo for 2 weeks, reduced the dose to 75%, and gave me a growth hormone shot after each treatment.
