9.2K membersHow can I naturally boost my ANC during chemo and radiation?
Community Member
5 days agoI was diagnosed in July with Stage IIIB non-small cell lung cancer and started treatment at the end of August. I’m currently undergoing thoracic radiation along with chemotherapy. My most recent ANC was 1.47, which was just low enough that my chemotherapy had to be delayed. Because I’m receiving thoracic radiation, my treatment team has told me that white blood cell growth-factor treatment is not an option for me right now. Has anyone here found anything that helped their ANC recover during treatment — whether through nutrition, hydration, activity, rest, or anything else? I already eat a healthy, balanced diet and try to exercise about three times a week. I understand there may not be a reliable “natural” way to raise neutrophils quickly, but I’d be very interested in hearing what others experienced and whether anything seemed to help between treatments. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
Should I worry about taking a recalled chemo medication?
Community Member
15 days agoO.k. I'm in treatment for NSCLC Stage 4. Yesterday I found out one of my chemo meds was recalled. I had been taking it for a few months. My oncologist has changed my meds 2x since then, but he hasn't said anything about the recall. I found out by my insurance sending me a notification in the mail. Should I be concerned?
How do I move forward after EGFR+ NSCLC progression?
Community Member
17 days agoJust learned that after 20+ months of stability on pemetrexed and amivantamab, the [I refuse to say my] EGFR+ NSCLC has progressed. I read that it is inevitable that this cancer will develop resistance. Will meet with oncologist next week. Tumor burden is still pretty low although first disease outside of thorax documented. I'm OK, but not great. And blessed/glad this is now and not 10 years ago when treatment options were many fewer. But, damn anyway.

Why did Emrelis cause severe side effects after my first dose?
Community Member
2 months agoReceived my first treatment of Emrelis and four days later I was in the ER and then hospitalized for 5 days. My pressure dropped, my heart rate elevated, nausea and vomiting and diarrhea. My potassium level went very low too. It turns out it was a toxic reaction that could have been mitigated had I been pre-treated. I’m getting stronger and the doctor has scheduled a treatment with anti nausea medication and stomach medicine;a lower dosage adjusted for the 10 lbs I lost; and fluids afterwards so I don’t dehydrate. Nervous but treatment is important if it stops progression.
Is itching and rash normal on Tagrisso?
Community Member
2 months agoDay 5 of Tagrisso was miserable. Nausea and stomach pain all day, but able to eat and drink in spite of it. Now I am itchy all over and see lots of red bumps popping up, I do not know if I will want to keep taking this drug that 2 oncologists told me had minimal and manageable side effects.
Has anyone tried Emrelis for stage 4 cancer? Side effects?
Community Member
2 months agoAfter diagnosis of Stage 4 in Nov 2024, I was treated with Pemetrexed and Carboplatin then put on KEYTRUDA. In May my PET/CT showed the cancer progressed to my left lung. Another biopsy revealed a MET biomarker (70%). After gaining approval for Emrelis, I started treatment last week. Has anyone else been treated with this drug? What has been your experience? Main side effects are neuropathy and vision problems; did you experience these and when did they start? Any insight helps.
How does supportive care help with cancer treatment side effects?
Community Member
3 months agoI'm learning about supportive care and how it can help manage symptoms and side effects during my cancer journey. My team explained that this type of care focuses on keeping me as comfortable as possible and can be used alongside other treatments or on its own. It includes things like pain management, nutrition support, and help coordinating between different healthcare providers. I'd love to hear from others who have experience with supportive care services during their treatment. • What supportive care services have been most helpful for you during your cancer journey? • Do you have any tips for working with your care team to coordinate different types of support?
