Can I get a perm while on chemo treatment?

Now that my hair is growing back, I want to get a perm. Has anyone done this? I am about to start a new chemo cycle of Doxil/Carboplatin/Arastin.

Getting a perm while undergoing chemotherapy is definitely something to discuss with your oncology team first, as they'll know best how the upcoming treatment cycle might affect your hair and scalp sensitivity. Many others in this community have wondered about similar hair styling questions during treatment, so you're certainly not alone in wanting to feel good about your appearance as your hair returns.

My hair came in incredibly curly and as thick as it has always been. I had a perm back in the 80s and is incredibly easy to care for. I just needed my first hair trim 8 months post chemo. I delayed it because I was hoping I woukd still have curls left. I’m happy to say I still have just as many curls. As far as perms, I read and asked about perms during or after chemo. I understand it’s not recommended fir at least a year. Perms are touch on even healthy hair. Perms May even cause more damage to already fragile hair.
