2 months agoHas anybody been told about a Rectal Spacer when having radiation therapy. Sits between prostate and rectum to help keep radiation from getting to your rectum during treatment. Helps prevent damage down the road to rectum which is the most likely to have side effect down the road. I have never been told about this.

2 months agoRectal spacers are indeed used in some prostate radiation treatments to help protect the rectum from radiation exposure. It's completely understandable to have questions about treatment options that weren't discussed with you, and many patients find themselves learning about different approaches through community discussions like this. Consider bringing this up with your radiation oncologist to discuss whether it might be appropriate for your specific treatment plan and circumstances.

2 months agoHad the rectal spacer. It will dissolve on its own after 3 months. Had it done 6 months ago and no side effects from it.

6 days agoI'm starting my pre-treatment procedures tomorrow. Rectal Spacer insertion and prostate markers are on the menu. After one week rehab, I am scheduled for a CT Simulation procedure. Not looking forward to any of this.

a day agoHi All. Day 35 of 38 radiation treatment this coming Monday. Had SpaceOAR injected beforehand. Trusting Radiologist’s suggestion for it and benefits. Ringing the bell Thursday with my wife is going to be joyous! PTL!
