Many people in this community have experience with bilateral mastectomy and understand the mix of emotions that can come with this decision. This is a safe space where others who have walked a similar path often share their experiences, recovery tips, and support - hoping you'll find the connection and encouragement that can be so valuable during this time.

I've heard 4 weeks recovery time but that also depends on how you take this take it with a grain of salt and you got this but don't pressure yourself to get better your body needs time to heal so as your layer up eat what ya want

Are you doing a double mastectomy because it was the only option? Or did you decide to do it because of genetic testing?

I decided to do double mastectomy because of family history and no radiation

I'm having a double mastectomy with autologous Reconstruction on 11/9. 8 week recovery time I was told. No genetics. Strong family history. I won't need radiation also. DCIS grade 3, and 8 cm long.
