a year agoAfter surgery, diagnosis was E+P+and HER2 ambiguous. Then determined HER2+. Was expecting to join a clinical trial with Kadcyla supposed to start next week. Now, I have Tuesday appt with onc to discuss treatments. When I asked onc asst why, she said the cancer was found to be + then - (it was about six tests with alternating results, just back and forth.) Wondering how they can be sure this is the right answer. The asst said the last person is the authority, very qualified. But still makes me wonder if I’m going to be treated for the right cancer. Anyone else run into this? Thanks!

Conflicting test results can definitely feel unsettling, especially when treatment plans are involved. HER2 testing can sometimes produce borderline or inconsistent results, which is why multiple tests are often needed to get a clear answer. The medical team's approach of running additional tests shows they want to ensure the most accurate diagnosis for the best treatment plan. Many others in this community have navigated similar uncertainty with test results, so sharing experiences here could be really helpful for everyone facing these situations.

7 months agoI would get a second opinion. Send tissue samples out. I have two cancers. One is E+, the other triple negative! That may explain your situation.
