8 months agoI was diagnosed on 3/7 with IDC stage 2 tumor grade IIA . Er+/ Pr-/Her2+ with 2 malignant axillary lymph nodes… I’ve been told 6 rounds of chemo/surgery/radiation/chemo. Fingers crossed for a lumpectomy but fear my second biopsy may disqualify me. So many tests: bone scan, breast mri, CT scans, genetics test, need a mri guided biopsy… anybody have a similar story?

6 months agoHi Deanak, I am also 5I and was diagnosed Feb 15th with breast cancer, turned out to be stage 3 Triple Negative, and super aggressive even for that type of cancer. I started chemo on March 14th. In that month, I had all the tests you mentioned. It was a whirlwind of doctors appointments and tests.. I'm doing neoadjuvent weekly chemo for 12 weeks, then chemo every 3 weeks for 4 months. Initially, they said I probably wouldn't need surgery because the chemo should take care of the cancer. But the genetic testing showed I am BRCA1 positive, so after all the chemo, I'm looking at a double mastectomy and ovaries & faloupean tubes removed. So far, my mindset is, better to have them removed to reduce my risk of reoccurrence, because I definitely do not want to go through this again!! Good luck with you treatment!
